Week two: 1714 round trips and a lot-size tune that failed

A busy week of quick trades, five small self-healed hiccups, and the autopilot rejecting its first live change.

The desk turned eleven days old this week, and the pair gave it plenty to do. Across the seven days the market wandered through a range of 136 ticks with a slight downward lean, and 58 of the 168 measured hours stayed quiet enough to count as calm. Wednesday was the standout: 473 round trips in a single day, the busiest since the desk went live. The weekend slowed things down, with Saturday at 110 and Sunday at 143, which is the usual shape of the week here.

The trading itself was brisk and short. 1714 round trips closed, of which 1215 won, 286 broke even, and 213 lost, a hit rate of 70.9 percent. The median hold was 15.5 minutes, so most positions were opened and closed well within a coffee break. The machinery kept pace: 7483 orders sent, only 15 refused, and uptime of 99.9 percent.

The guardian had a modest week. It spotted five issues across the autopilot, a bug, a check, and the server, and all five resolved themselves with a median of three minutes. Three of them got a written diagnosis from the AI analyst, which is how the desk builds its memory of what goes wrong and why. Nothing needed a manual cure.

The interesting story of the week sits with the autopilot. It ran six paper tests, covering the float, the exit and break-even timers, adaptive spacing, the exit floor, and the sell-target distance in quiet hours. One test reached a verdict: the lot-size change lost to the control copy and was rejected. That is the system working as designed. A change has to beat the old settings on paper before it goes anywhere near live trading, and this week the autopilot proved it will say no. No live changes were made, and the desk kept running on settings it already trusts.

The AI analyst wrote 16 insights and queued two fresh ideas for testing: the exit and break-even timers in quiet hours, and the volatility brake in quiet hours. Both target the calm stretches, which is where the desk spends more than a third of its hours. Next week will tell whether either idea gets a live trial.
