Day twenty: a Tuesday the desk sat out entirely

No orders, no fills, one automatic cure, and two quiet-hours experiments lost to the control copy.

Some days the story is what did not happen. On day twenty the desk sent no orders and closed no round trips, even though the pair wandered across 72 ticks with a drift of 38. The machinery itself was fine: 99.7 percent uptime, nothing refused, nothing broken. The guardian found no issues, though it did perform one automatic cure on its own initiative.

The autopilot kept busy anyway. It started two paper tests, one on the spacing between orders and one on the volatility window in quiet hours. Two earlier experiments came to a verdict, and both lost: the exit timer and break-even timer in quiet hours, and the sell-target distance in quiet hours, each fell short of the control copy. So nothing went live, and nothing needed rolling back.

The interesting bit is why a day can pass with zero orders. Quoting rules adapt to conditions, and when the desk's own gates say the moment is not worth an order, it simply waits. Six of the measured hours counted as quiet, and the rest still did not tempt it.

The AI analyst wrote four insights and queued one new idea, the volatility window in quiet hours, which is already being tested on paper.
